THEATRE 2

Instructor: Ms. Zaleski

PREREQUISITE: Theatre 1 or permission of instructor

How does an actor prepare for an authentic performance?

This course assumes experience in acting, moves at a faster pace, and grading reflects a higher expectation in skill. Students will prepare several scenes for performance throughout the semester and may have the opportunity to direct as well. Depending on the schedule, we may partner with one of the video classes to explore acting on camera. Some years we've been able to participate in community projects or present final performances for an audience.

Theatre 2 students participated in a forum on prejudice at City Hall with the local YMCA.

It is the mission of the Newburyport Public School Performing Arts Department to provide every student the opportunity to engage in the appreciation, creation and analysis of multiple performing arts modalities. We will provide a 21st century education through embedding technology in each performing arts course, while focusing on the connection with the physical body, voice or instrument. Through culturally sensitive instructional practices, students will experience the performing arts as relevant to their multiple intelligences. Whether students pursue the performing arts at a post-secondary or professional level or engage in it socially, we aim to instill a lifelong advocacy for the impact and power of creativity.
