STAGE TECHNOLOGY

Instructor: Ms. Zaleski

This course is designed for students who wish to explore technical areas of theatre.  Students will learn about set design, scene painting, costume design, makeup and hair design, sound and light design, and production technologies. In addition to theoretical classroom designs, students will have practical experience working on the current NHS production. Students should leave this class with an understanding of various production areas and how the various technical elements come together.

It is the mission of the Newburyport Public School Performing Arts Department to provide every student the opportunity to engage in the appreciation, creation and analysis of multiple performing arts modalities. We will provide a 21st century education through embedding technology in each performing arts course, while focusing on the connection with the physical body, voice or instrument. Through culturally sensitive instructional practices, students will experience the performing arts as relevant to their multiple intelligences. Whether students pursue the performing arts at a post-secondary or professional level or engage in it socially, we aim to instill a lifelong advocacy for the impact and power of creativity.
