BASIC VIDEO

Students in this introductory class will be filming, editing and preparing media for television and short film presentations. Students will learn how to effectively utilize video equipment in and outside of the studio environment. Topics covered will include proper use of video equipment and the editing of video with Adobe Premiere Pro. Class topics will range from commercials and public service messages to the creation of a movie trainer and short film. Students will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills in public speaking and presentation in front of the camera. Teamwork on the set and collaboration on projects will be a major emphasis of the course.

It is the mission of the Newburyport Public School Performing Arts Department to provide every student the opportunity to engage in the appreciation, creation and analysis of multiple performing arts modalities. We will provide a 21st century education through embedding technology in each performing arts course, while focusing on the connection with the physical body, voice or instrument. Through culturally sensitive instructional practices, students will experience the performing arts as relevant to their multiple intelligences. Whether students pursue the performing arts at a post-secondary or professional level or engage in it socially, we aim to instill a lifelong advocacy for the impact and power of creativity.
