Student-Directed Projects

Students from the Honors Theatre Ensemble class will each select (or write) a short play for this festival of student work. 

​

The auditions are October 1 & 2 and open to all NHS students. Auditions for these projects generally consist of an open scene, with directors giving suggestions/feedback for the actors. Rehearsals start the week of October 7 and typically meet 2-3 hours a week. It's a great way to get involved with smaller time commitment!

Performances will be in NHS Auditorium November 6 & 7 at 7pm.

It is the mission of the Newburyport Public School Performing Arts Department to provide every student the opportunity to engage in the appreciation, creation and analysis of multiple performing arts modalities. We will provide a 21st century education through embedding technology in each performing arts course, while focusing on the connection with the physical body, voice or instrument. Through culturally sensitive instructional practices, students will experience the performing arts as relevant to their multiple intelligences. Whether students pursue the performing arts at a post-secondary or professional level or engage in it socially, we aim to instill a lifelong advocacy for the impact and power of creativity.
